Grab your binoculars and get ready to set sail for a fascinating day at Lundy island! You can catch a ferry from Bideford, which is situated just 35 minutes from Glebe House Cottages near Bude. Although the island is just 3 miles long and half a mile wide, there’s plenty to see here for the whole family. The island is home to puffins, seals and seabirds and is nothing short of magical because of its unique flora and fauna in the area. Lundy Island is one of the most popular destinations that our luxury holiday guests visit.

  1. RHS Rosemoor – For Garden enthusiasts

Just a 30-minute drive from Glebe House Cottages is the 65-acre stunning gardens of RHS Rosemoor. This is a perfect place to understand the true essence of rural North Devon with the fantastic scenic backdrop of steep heavily wooded valleys. These amazing gardens are open all year round and we really recommend our holiday guests to return to our family friendly self-catering cottages, so they experience the changing colours, scents and textures throughout the year. With the woodland walks, water features and open spaces – there is something for children and adults to enjoy time and time again. Plus, remember when you get back to your luxury holiday cottage you also have access to the stunning formal gardens here at Glebe!

  1. The Milky Way – For families with children ages 2-10 years old.

Get ready for a big adventure day out at the Milky Way, just 30 minutes from Glebe House Cottages. This family run fun park has plenty of rides and attractions to keep the whole family amused for hours. Whether it’s testing your nerve on their rollercoasters, shooting some fun archery or watching some amazing bird, science and magic shows we are sure the Milky Way is a place that children and parents will love while holidaying near Bude. It has an indoor play area for kids with slides and ball pools and nets to explore, as well as a little kids’ adventures centre too, and everything offered is included in the entrance price. And remember, when you get back, there’s plenty to do at Glebe House Cottages to keep the kids entertained including our adventure playground, 24 hour games room and our heated swimming pool.

  1. The North Devon Wake Park – For watersports and adrenaline seekers

If you’re into your watersports then why not give wakeboarding a go? It’s right here in Devon! Only 30 miinutes away from our luxury cottages. Even if you’ve never tried it before, the instructors will get you looking like a pro in one session. Also available at the North Devon Wake Park is the inflatable aquapark where you can race, slide and chase each other around the course in a total wipe-out style! Of course after your adrenaline filled day you can always come back to relax in our peaceful settings on the Devon and Cornwall border.

  1. Lydford Gorge – For hikers, explorers and nature lovers

Deep in the depths of Dartmoor you’ll find Lydford Gorge. Owned by the National Trust, and less than an hour away from our dog friendly cottages. Lydford Gorge is a beautiful valley with plenty to see including the Devil’s Cauldron, a stunning swirling whirlpool of white water, and the White Lady waterfall, Devon’s tallest waterfall! What’s more, just like our luxury cottages, Lydford Gorge is dog friendly and there are a series of picturesque woodland walks to explore, perfect for dog walking. For kids there is an adventure playground too!
